Honeymoon

Chateau Elan This is a french winery and resort north of Atlanta. During the warmer months there are more eventful things to do such as horseback riding.  They have great food. The two restaurants we were able to dine at were Cafe Elan and Versaille. I loved the peach bread pudding and the homemade butter pecan from Cafe Elan. I ordered a pretty tasty steak at Versaille. The honeymoon was It was short lived but a much needed retreat. For the rest of our honeymoon we came back to OUR apartment :) and opened wedding gifts, went shopping, dined out, movies, and enjoyed one another.  Who wants to go back to real life after a week like that.

The week of...Murphy's Law!

If you dont know what Murphy's Law is, it simply means "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong".

It all started with the ice storm of the century. It turned out to be a blessing with many parts feeling curse-like. I got the whole week of the wedding off of work because no one could drive on the roads so practically the whole city was shutdown. As you know this was a DIY (do it yourself) wedding so I had PLENTY that needed to be done (I will post all pix of my projects :).

TO START WITH, the ice storm caused my reception site to keep me on pins and needles as to whether they would be open for business until the EVENING before the wedding. SECONDLY, I called to check on my cake and come to find out my cake lady was snowed in in Mississippi approx 4 days before the wedding. THIRDLY, one of my flower girls was snowed in WAAAY across town and her mother claimed that she didnt even know she was still in the wedding since she hadnt heard from me in so long! And her mom didnt have an operating vehicle to pick her up even if the roads did permit. FOURTHLY, my table cloths for the wedding never showed up on my doorstep! Honestly, I thought I had gotten ripped off because I never saw a confirmation email sent to my inbox and I had never heard of or used this site before. But something told me to check my email so I did a search and it popped up! At 2 am the morning of the wedding I discovered they were at UPS in Doraville! I was already having an afternoon wedding and the reception place did not allow us to get in and set up until the day of the wedding AND NOW someone has to go stand in line at UPS and get some table cloths??

Among other things that went wrong that slowly mounted up my to the massive knots I got in my back, shoulders, and neck were the fact that...I was down to NO phone minutes and still had plenty business to handle over the phone. My great grandma died the Saturday before my wedding so guess when the funeral was....ON MY WEDDING DAY! Therefore I couldnt make the funeral, my grandad didnt make the wedding and my videographer (uncle) canceled on me and decided he would rather go to the funeral...Who would rather go to a funeral than a wedding?? Im just sayin...I printed out my wedding programs after asking 2 people if they were ok and there was a big fat TYPO on the FRONT...the wedding date was wrong. I put January 11, 2011 rather than January 15, 2011! I figured no one would notice. Even though I brushed it off in the back of my mind I was still thinking should I reprint them? The the church was threatening me if I didnt send it a pastors license by 9 pm on like that Tuesday that I could not use the church. My aunt refused to rush and do it and I couldnt get in touch with The Mister's aunt who was officiating the wedding.

By the night before the wedding I had completely turned off my brain...after I came to the realization that I would have to completely get my weave re-sewn in the morning of the wedding. So I got all of about 3 hours of sleep. But pretty much I no longer cared if anything else went wrong. As long as we said "I do" mission was accomplished. However little small stuff still happened like my cake did not turn out how I asked AT ALL, it got smashed on one whole side on the way to the reception, the flower girls left their shoes at my aunts house, every button except 1 fell off of one of the flower girls dress and I think the same flower girl left her tights at my moms house. Either way, like I said I didnt care if they had to walk down the aisle bareleg with boots on...just get it over with already!

So there you have it...
